SUMMARY:Shepherd WISE
DESCRIPTION:New Small-Ruminant Training for 2026\nVirginia Women in Agriculture will introduce Shepherd WISE on October 7 from 1 to 4:30 p.m. in Roseland. The new session expands the WISE program with practical education for sheep and small-ruminant producers. \nTopics include herd health\, lamb processing\, nutrition and decisions about when veterinary help is needed. The program emphasizes hands-on learning and practical skills participants can carry back to their own farms. \nPart of the WISE Conference\nShepherd WISE opens a three-day series that also includes Cattle WISE on October 8 and Equipment WISE on October 9. The training initiative was created by Virginia Cooperative Extension agricultural agents and is designed to build confidence\, safety and technical skills in agriculture. \nThe program is open to eligible participants and places particular emphasis on serving women in agriculture. \nRegistration and Scholarships\nRegistration for Shepherd WISE is $25. Participants may also register for the full three-day conference package. Need-based scholarships are available. \nThe 2026 WISE programs will be held at Devils Backbone Camp in Roseland\, Virginia. Advance registration is required.
