SUMMARY:Tree Walk and Talk
DESCRIPTION:Learn to Read the Forest\nVirginia State University and Virginia Cooperative Extension will offer Tree Walk and Talk on October 7 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Humpback Rock Mountain Farm near Waynesboro. The outdoor program will help participants identify common trees and invasive species while building a better understanding of the forest ecosystem around them. \nParticipants will learn characteristics that distinguish different tree species and discuss how invasive plants and other pressures can affect woodland health. The program also highlights practical steps landowners and visitors can take to respond to invasive species. \nUseful for Woodland Owners\nThe session can be useful for farmers\, woodland owners and others who manage forested acreage or want to improve their ability to recognize trees and forest conditions. The setting at Humpback Rock provides an opportunity to learn in a working Appalachian landscape rather than in a classroom. \nRegistration\nTree Walk and Talk will run from 1 to 3 p.m. October 7 at Humpback Rock Mountain Farm\, 5846 Blue Ridge Parkway\, Waynesboro. For more information\, contact Forrest Hobbs at 804-892-5310. Registration is available through the official Virginia State University event listing.
