Hiram Jensen

Science and Government Reporter

Hiram Jensen holds a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy from Iowa State University, a degree he initially pursued with the intention of returning to his family's multi-generational dairy farm in Wisconsin. However, a severe drought during his final year of college devastated his family's hay crops and forced them to make difficult decisions. Jensen realized then that while he understood the science of farming, he lacked the broader understanding of market forces, climate trends, and governmental policies that profoundly impacted agricultural livelihoods. He saw a critical need for accessible, timely information to help farmers navigate an increasingly complex industry. Driven by a desire to empower his fellow agriculturalists with knowledge, he transitioned from a potential career in the fields to one in the newsroom. His articles are often data-driven and practical, covering everything from new farming techniques to commodity market analysis, all with the underlying goal of equipping farmers with the information they need to thrive.
