Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy January 1 – March 1, 2026, Region-Wide (Virtual) The Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy (SAHC) invites residents across the region to participate in its annual Winter Hiking Challenge, a self-paced outdoor initiative encouraging people to log 60 miles in 60 days. Participants may hike, walk, or run anywhere—on public trails, conserved lands, or local roads—making the event accessible to all fitness levels. Proceeds support SAHC's mission to protect farmland, forests, and water resources across the Southern Appalachians.
