The interactive Guide brings market locations, schedules, payment information, food-access programs, and other useful details together in one searchable resource covering communities throughout the Appalachian Highlands.

Built for More Than a List of Addresses
Market information changes. Seasons begin and end. Holiday markets appear. Hours change. Programs gain or lose funding. Some annual markets announce their dates only a few weeks or months before they take place.
That is why the Farmers Market Guide uses a living database rather than a static directory.
Appalachian Highlands Farmers Magazine researches market information, reviews sources, and updates listings as new information becomes available. When we approve an update, the change can appear directly in the public Guide.
Coverage Is Growing
The Farmers Market Guide is a work in progress by design.
We are starting with markets we have researched and reviewed, then expanding coverage throughout the Appalachian Highlands. A market that does not appear in the Guide may simply be waiting for research or verification.
Some annual markets may also appear as Date Pending when we know the market operates, but organizers have not yet announced the next event date.
We would rather tell readers that a date remains uncertain than guess.
Helping Readers Find Local Food
The Guide supports one of the central missions of Appalachian Highlands Farmers Magazine: helping people discover the farms, growers, producers, markets and food systems in their own communities.
Buying through local markets keeps more food dollars circulating close to home while giving shoppers a chance to learn where their food comes from and who produces it.
The Guide also makes food-access programs easier to discover. When reliable information is available, listings identify programs that can help eligible shoppers use benefits to purchase fresh, locally produced food.
