Consumers Should Not Buy or Serve Once Upon a Farm Tractor Wheels, Organic Toddler Soft-Baked Bars Due to a Potentially Fatal Choking Hazard

AUDIENCE: Consumer, Patient, Health Care Professional, Pediatric

ISSUE: The FDA has received several reports that describe toddlers (ages 1.5–2.5 years) suffering complete airway obstruction with the inability to breathe after consuming the product. Some reported choking incidents have required emergency response intervention and hospital observation.

BACKGROUND: The product included in this alert is sold as organic toddler soft-baked bars.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

  • Consumers who have symptoms should contact their health care provider to report their symptoms and receive care.
  • Consumers should not buy or serve this product and should immediately throw it away.
  • Retailers should not sell this product.
  • Call 9-1-1 in the event that someone is choking and other first aid measures to dislodge the obstruction have failed.
