The Fleenors

Nestled in the scenic hills of Bristol, Virginia, Fleenor Farms is a cherished family-run agricultural destination that blends traditional farming with seasonal entertainment. Owned and operated by Keith and Sabrina Fleenor, along with their two children, the farm offers visitors a glimpse into rural life while providing a variety of activities and fresh products.

Located at 8006 Reedy Creek Road, just off I-81 Exit 1, Fleenor Farms is easily recognizable by its iconic tobacco barn. Throughout the year, the farm provides farm-fresh beef, pork, and eggs, available in whole and half portions, catering to those seeking locally sourced meats.

October transforms Fleenor Farms into a festive autumn attraction. Visitors can enjoy navigating the corn maze, taking hayrides, riding the farm train, and participating in activities like corn shooting and playing in the corn pit. The farm also features a pumpkin patch, opportunities to feed farm animals, and hosts events such as parties, craft painting sessions, and picnics, making it a popular spot for family outings and group celebrations.

The Fleenor family’s journey into agritourism began with a dream of sharing their farming lifestyle with the public. Their commitment to sustainable farming and community engagement is evident in the experiences they offer, aiming to create lasting memories for all visitors.

Beyond the farm, the Fleenors expanded their agricultural ventures by acquiring Washington County Meat Packing and Livestock, LLC in 2020. This move allowed them to further support local agriculture and provide quality meat products to the community.

Fleenor Farms stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of family farming, offering both a source of fresh, local produce and a place for the community to connect with the agricultural heritage of the region.

A Taste of the Simple Life — The Story Behind the Dutch Kettle

Pick up Pickled Bologna or Apple Butter at the Big Red Apple Shed and take home more than a pantry staple—a taste of a unique agrarian community.

The Dutch Kettle runs out of Hamptonville, North Carolina, at the heart of the Union Grove Amish settlement. Union Grove, established in the 1980s, is North Carolina’s oldest and longest-surviving Amish community.

So, what makes this community—and their food—so special?

The Union Grove settlers are a small group of "New Order" Amish. While you will see them traveling the back roads of North Carolina by horse and buggy and speaking Pennsylvania Dutch, they are best known for installing public electricity in their homes and workplaces. This mix of historic artisan skill and modern pragmatism lets businesses like The Dutch Kettle produce quality, homestyle canned goods on a larger scale without losing their handcrafted touch.

Opening a Dutch Kettle product means tasting a devotion to the simple life. They never use preservatives. They only choose all-natural, non-GMO ingredients cooked the old-fashioned way. Whether it’s famous jams, jellies, or Appalachian pickled snacks, these Amish artisans preserve the harvest with methods passed down for generations.
